My in laws are here for the week. My husband isn’t super close to them, but wants to be closer to them, I get it. So he invited them and they’re here. The trip has been pretty mellow so far other than my MiL trying to manipulate holiday plans (I was prepared for that).
The point: I have a shadow box of all the things my husband has worn to work over the years (patches, name tags, etc.). He will buy an extra patch when he first checks in to a new group and send it to them, but I get everything he wears and if there’s only one of something, I get it. My MiL asked to see my box and I agreed. She asked why there were so many things that she didn’t have and I said I get everything that he wears. She then TOOK THINGS OUT OF MY BOX and was asking if she could have things from the box where I had an extra and I said no, it’s important to me that I have everything he’s worn on his uniform. She then tries to guilt me about not having all of these things and I changed the subject to where she could buy things online related to my husband’s work.
My husband said I wasn’t stupid for getting upset over it and agreed that I can have as many of something as I want because he gives those things to me for a reason. Does anyone else have a MiL that tries to take things of sentimental meaning from your house?
Anyone read the story about the Just No who took her grandchild's ashes?
