I recently looked into the damage that Curiosity's wheels have sustained, and found about the sheeding maneuver that was tested for if/when the wheels are too badly damaged, and that Percy's wheels were designed with this damage in mind and made stronger by having a thicker skin and more grousers, but how effective has this been? Obviously theres been less milage (approximately 12 from Percy vs just over 18 from Curiosity) but is there any sign of how effective this upgrade has been?
also how come Perserverance has travelled 2/3 the distance in less than 1/4 the timeframe when both rovers, at least based on a very quick google search, seem to have similar traveling speeds? is it simply due to the experience of how best to travel on the planet gained from the years of having Curiosity there or is Percy on easier terrain to help facilitate the take-off and landings of Ingenuity?
