Literal Mass Skill Issue
Post Body

Honestly annoyed at how overhated this game is tbh. Been having a blast since i started playing it, especially when i understood what the game was going for with the Final Fantasy Dissidia inspired play-style. I like the idea of having only certain attacks damage HP while other attacks build up the ability to access those moves, and its obvious the plan was for additional content to drop as new seasons of the anime continue to come out.

The soundtrack is dope and keeps me invested during battles, the character and moveset combinations make matches feel different enough, and most of the issues found at launch can likely be fixed with simple updates and a decent sale to address the price complaints. The story mode reminds me of early 2000s anime games and the dub lip syncing is something im used to (which is about the same as the storm franchise lip syncing has been). But lets be real, most people don’t play these kinds of games for the story anyways because the anime already exists (The game was NEVER going to surpass Studio Mappa’s animation quality with cgi cutscenes to begin with). Hell, many even viewed DBfighterZ’s story as an afterthought.

I genuinely believe most the hate is straight up group think. “Streamers told me not to like this game, so i dont”, type shit. The lack of charitability is through the roof. I watched Charlie’s storymode play through on YouTube and he literally used autocombo the entire time, hardly bothering to view command lists for characters to see how they are meant to be played, and what moves can be strung together to build cursed energy faster and flow into cursed technique landings. He just… mashed. Many people complained about lack of damage being done in combat, as they played with zero creativity all while claiming the game has no combo potential before resorting to using only one button to play the game, already planning to request their refunds.

Its crazy because you could theoretically beat most modern fighters playing the exact same way as many new fighting game entries now have autocombos for casual accessibility reasons… the bias is real. If you’re going to purposely make your time with the game miserable as hell to play, it will be miserable as hell to play.

Reviewers dropping 1/10 & 2/10 scores left and right were being anything but objective. Aside from the issue of the $60 price tag, if this game dies early, Im gonna blame mass skill issue, arena fighter fatigue, and mass hate parroting as the main reasons for it happening.

Idk man, im just gonna look forward to the Hidden Inventory DLC so I can kick some ass with Toji while enjoying the new content. But I wouldn’t blame the game devs if they ceased working on additional content altogether after the mass refund debacle. It is what it is, I guess.
