Experience with eSIM's in Japan?

Post Body

Hi everyone! September-departure here.

I've been looking at mobile services in Japan and researching what would make the most sense for me.

I plan on keeping my US T-mobile plan since I want to keep my phone number & it has international services available.

The 2G international data roaming is a bit slow though, so I thought of getting a Japanese SIM.

I have an old unlocked phone I can bring for the JPN SIM, but I'd like to avoid carrying two phones around if I can.

My iPhone 11 Pro has dual-sim capabilities, one physical and one digital eSIM.

Does anyone have any experience getting and using an eSIM in Japan? Was it affordable? I don't mind if it's an MVNO. If I can avoid the Big 3 companies (AU, Docomo, Softbank) that would also be ideal.
