First off, yes... I know 5 hours is way too short to get much of a feel for the city. But we had to cut it short here to actually give ourselves enough time in the other cities we'll be visiting. We'll be landing in Venice, then taking the last high speed train to our next location.
If you only had the time between 2:00-7:00 (plane lands at 11:00, giving myself plenty of buffer here, don't worry!) & it was your first visit, what would you do?
Option A: Spend ~2.5 hours between St. Mark's & Doge's. Walk back to station & get dinnner on the way.
Option B: Spend ~1.5 hours at one of the 2 locations, then an hour exploring the city. I'm torn between the 2, because St. Mark's seems "better", but we'll already be visiting multiple basilicas & The Vatican later on the trip. Doge's would be something different.
