Have some general questions on Rome and a couple tentative day trips to Tivoli and Orvieto

Post Body

I’m going to Rome for a week in about a month and had some general questions

  • Do I need to buy anything transportation related in advance like bus tickets and/or train tickets or can I always do that on the spot?

  • For Orvieto I’ve been recommended to go to Trattoria La Palomba - how do I get a ticket? Do I call? Assuming they speak English and can take me?

  • Are there any restaurant reservations in Rome I should be looking at now and booking? All my historical sites and tickets and museums have been booked but nothing on food. Im not sure if I’m messing up or if I’ll be fine bumping into things to eat around.

  • My day trip to Tivoli is where I have the most questions….

  • Do bus/train tickets run continuously? Meaning there’s no chance I could get stranded there by missing the last bus/train?

  • Most itineraries come one or two of the villas but almost nothing on the Gregoriana Hike / Parco Villa Gregoriana. Is it possible to do both villas and the 2 hour hike?

  • Is there anything I need to book in advance?

  • Any restaurant recommendations?

  • Any recommendations on the order I take this trip? Like start at Hadrian’s or the hike or something else
