Hey all,
I am inquiring about retiring in Italy in your mid 30’s, as the heading states. I am currently working on my Jure Sanguinis and wont be recognized until about 2029. My fiancé is a 33F and I 32M, both contract workers..
We have about $1.6 million in combined assets with about $200,000 of that being in Roth IRA’s and 401(k)s.
So I guess my question is, how much money is enough money to be able to retire comfortably in your mid 30s in Italy? Our goal is to have at least $2 million in liquid assets and essentially live off the compounding interest of those stocks/mutual funds, other than our retirement funds before we move. Would this be enough? If not about how much might be enough? I know income taxes in Italy are quite high, especially compared to the United States. So I just leave the family short on money later in life.
And yes before anyone asks, I have spent significant time in Italy before 😋
Really appreciate any and all help.
Reddit won't be able to tell you how much money you need to retire in Italy in your 30s. Speaking purely speculatively though, that wouldn't be nearly enough for me personally - but that doesn't mean that it wouldn't be enough for you.
You seem to be considering this seriously, so the obvious first step would be to hire a wealth advisor who'll be able to understand your current finances and future aspirations and, ultimately, give their opinion. I don't believe anyone here can really help.
