Why are aren't starships colorful?
Post Body
Up until WW1 equipment, animals and soldiers used to be adorned in bright colors to advertise, embolden and frighten. Afterwards requirements for stealth (and mass manufacture) made that go away, but in hard science there is no stealth in space and in soft science scanners pick up any un-cloaked ship anyway.
If you ask me ships should look extravagant and zany rather than the grey boxes we see nearly everywhere.
