Do you suppose that virtual or augmented reality (either via headset or implant) will completely replace traditional screens and monitors? When you sit down to do your work, browse, catch up on correspondence, play a game, or watch incredibly old episodes of SFIA will it even be on a screen anymore? I wonder if we'll even need desks anymore.
Only in applications where heads-up displays are already rather common like military aviation.
There's a line where AR/VR essentially becomes cope for lacking neural implants and we've already run against it a few times.
Just like touch screens or really touch sensors overall there's a limit to how much you can conceivably put into everything before people realize you're trying to hide the lack of any substantial advancements in the field behind dumb gadgets.
