In alot of media and future predictions its often suggested that we end up moving away from smartphones in favor of some kind of brain implant or AR technology. While these technologies will change communication dramatically, much like smartwatches they don't seem to me like they will ever replace smartphones outright. What do you all think? will we still be using smartphones a century from now?
Definitely. Even if it's just a way to mediate between your implant and the internet or your own storage without having to immerse yourself to a nauseating degree.

My prediction? We're gonna end up just referring to the device as "tablet" regardless of exact form factor. It gets the point across and is already in use.
Kind of how "internet meme" and "image macro" melded into a singular term.
