Huh....... That's a take for sure. I guess Reddit is quite alien in its own right already.
Social engineering is how you prevent a post scarcity setting from becoming apocalyptic without downright mind shackles or fascistic repression.
"Here's how to act given to the resources intelligence and freedom of creating weapons of genocidal potency" is significantly less 'unpleasant' than busting down doors and slapping on an inhibitor collar if your central Computer detects someone assembling a bioreactor after the fact.
Simply educating people to be careful about traffic & workplace safety is a form of social engineering.
