The Duchy of Burgundy has recently come into hands of the House of Capet, with the end of the Burgundian Succession Crisis, His Holiness has ruled in favor of the claim of the King of the Franks, Robert the Pious. Then, but three decades ago, the Kings heir Henri and his younger brother Robert rose in revolt against the King at the behest of their Queen mother. Robert had been promised the Duchy of Burgundy from his father, but had never been given it, and as such he brought his men to the Duchy, to claim what was rightfully his. Upon their father's acceptance of their terms, Henri became King and Robert ascended to Duke of Burgundy, something Henri had to accept, or else he would find himself in the same role as his late father as their mother always favored Robert as the proper heir.
However, Robert would find himself unable to pursue any royal ambitions, as the Duchy of Burgundy had fallen to practical anarchy since the reign of Robert the Justiciar, with many Dukes, desperate to secure the loyalty of their vassals, they had given away the demesne, leaving very little land held directly by the Duke. As such, Robert was able to gain the Duchy as a Freehold, promised to him and his heirs, for all future Dukes to be loyal only to the King of France.
As such, Robert's primary goal shall be to solidify his control in the Duchy before looking to expanding his demesne outside it.
Currently, Robert's only foreign attachment is to his nephew the King of France, Phillip I
