Troubleshooting tips for strange charging issue with iPod Video 5th Gen

Post Body

I'm having a strange issue with my modded iPod video. I installed an iFlash SSD several years ago, and the device was working without issues for a while. It was plugged into my car radio all the time, for several years. I unplugged it about a month or so, and tried to use it again last week.

The device would not charge, but that was not surprising to me. I assumed that the battery required replacement an ordered and installed a new battery.

Now the strange issue is that when I attempt to charge the iPod the mSata on the iFlash heats up massively and the battery discharges rapidly without heating itself up. If I remove the mSata drive the ipod charges normally, and when the drive is reinserted the iPod works perfectly untill I attemp to charge it again.

Is this behavior something that anybody has experience with?
