I had an open bite too and also had metal braces as a kid. My ortho said I'd only get a perfect bite with metal braces again jaw surgery, but that he only really pushes for jaw surgery when it would be "life-changing." In my case, it wouldn't be and that Invisalign would get me "pretty darn close" to a perfect bite. So I went with the Invis.
7 months in and my open bite has closed. Now just currently trying to correct the overbite I now have as much as possible, but seriously super happy with my progress so far!
