Only my back teeth touch

In the morning when I take my retainers off. Only my back teeth touch throughout the day my teeth relax, some more comfortable position, where all the rest of my teeth touch close my mouth. I'm being told this is normal. This is what the expectation is. Does anyone else have this problem?
