Ep. 6 Lestat's Backstory
Post Body

Disclaimer: I understand that this is an adaption and there will be changes from the books. I just want to point out and discuss those differences from book to screen.

I am confused from this because TV!Lestat says that Magnus kept him in a room full of corpses, but I remember reading in the book that he was in a cell, but not alongside corpses. In fact, he found those corpses after Magnus died. He was not kept in that cell because on page 108 of TVL it says, “Why wasn't I locked in this cell? What test had I passed that I was not screaming now as I shook the bars, the horror that I had foreseen in the village inn slowly closing in on me?”

TV!Lestat also said that Magnus kept him for a week. It is not distinct in the book about how long Magnus kept Lestat, but I assumed it was for a few days, not a full week.

He said that Magnus fed on him every night, but in the book he fed on him to turn him over to the Dark Gift, I didn't interpret that as a tasting, it was more meant to turn him into a vampire.

Why did the writer's do this? Was this Lestat making his story seem more sad to win over Louis?

Any thoughts?
