I am at a loss and need help. Recurrent UTIS - could I possibly have IC?
Post Body

Hello all, Iā€™m glad to have found this sub to maybe get some answers. I appreciate in advance if youā€™ve stopped by to read my post.

I am 26 F and my vaginal issues started with chronic yeast infections. This was in college and up until I was maybe 24. I havenā€™t had much of those, thank god, but in the last 2-3 years Iā€™ve had recurring UTIS. This last year and recently being the worst.

2019-2021 I got maybe 2-3 during each year but went away either by themselves or on antibiotics.

End of 2021-until now, Iā€™ve had what I think has been a UTI since early December. At first, I didnā€™t really think much of it, but I ended up getting Macrobid last week (5 day supply).

It worked for a a couple days, but then it didnā€™t. I ironically went to the doctor today because I have a small cyst looking growth near my buttocks so they gave me Bactrim for that. I know Bactrim can help with UTIs so I am hoping it will solve both of these issues.

The thing is: Iā€™m not sure whatā€™s causing it. I pee after sex, but do have quite a bit of sex (one partner) and I feel symptoms after having sex

I go to the gym everyday but I am prone to sweating a lot in the vaginal / buttocks region so I understand the importance of changing out of tight leggings right away.

I used to take probiotics and eat a lot of fermented food, and I havenā€™t in the past 2 or so years. I know that will help for sure.

Anyway, my symptoms are mostly urgency, and burning while urinating. I donā€™t have blood or like ā€œextremeā€ pain. I also have had a sore back for about 2 weeks. I did a UTI test at home and it came back positive for leukocytes and negative for nitrites. Is this an IC indicator?

Any insight would be so helpful. Iā€™m not sure what to do. Praying the Bactrim works. I have two Diflucanā€™s on deck in case a yeast infection decides to show up as well.
