Different up locations?

Autocorrect. I meant IP

I have Metronet and live in NC. If I check my ip address using google or what is my ip, they list NC. Most websites I visit also have the correct state. However, some websites place me in Chicago. Examples are Lowe’s.com and a few others. Also, when I log into my Apple account, it lists me in Chicago. Is there any reason why some sites have the correct location and others don’t? Not a huge deal except when I shop at Lowe’s, I have to tell it I’m not in Chicago. Also have to tell Apple that my sign in from Chicago is me. This is all on an iPhone and iPad.
