If it's a required 60 hour course, do I need to spend 60 hours in it?

I'm trying to get a 2-15 license right now, which requires a 60 hour pre licensing course. I finished the course and I'm consistently passing the exam simulator, but I have only spent 20 or so hours in the required 60 hour course, do I need to leave it open for another 40 hours? Is that a requirement to get the license?
I am in Florida for the record.
