So I am trying to transition out of retail to insurance with work at home opportunities. While in person and phone I am well versed, well spoken and knowledgeable. NOW when it comes to doing video one sided interview scenarios I freeze up, my voice becomes tight and I sound like I am medicated(as in my speech slows down).
There have been practice sessions i've done with my webcam doing mock scenarios yet when it comes to the real deal, I BOMB like no tomorrow.
Now I have the opportunity for a few video interviews and I want to do well to get further in the interview process.
Oh yeah it’s simple, clean and generic flower artwork. I always take a selfie near where the webcam is to zoom in on anything and see from that angle.
When i say i sound medicated , its hard to explain. You know how most people hate the sound of their voice when played back in almost any format? Well thats what i'm trying to describe, I sound a tad slower than I think I actually am, so maybe i sound this way but my own viewing of it contradicts what I think I do sound like.
What also doesnt help is the timer while the segment is happening as I reply/speak.
I will probably send a message to my primary and ask her and do a telecommute visit.
Even have spoken to my other job store manager about this. He says "FFM you do a great job with customers, phone and leadership, its hard to belive you are having issues with this..." So i know and confident in my knowledge and professionalism.
Also just remembered when I am doing ZOOM/TEAMS meetings, I have no issues with talking and communicating.

Oh, I already have that put together in notes, handwritten and on virtual Post-it notes on my desktop. It’s more so the physical aspects of doing the interview where I really don’t have that much control in those few minutes.
