Hi,
I live in Michigan, which is really important because we have some weird laws regarding insurance here. My auto policy comes up for renewal in about 2 weeks so I'm going through the motions of getting quotes from different companies so see if I can save a few dollars. I thought one explanation from one of the local representatives was a little strange so...
He quoted me on the PIP (Personal Injury Protection) for Coordinated Medical. We had just gotten the run-around on this question from my medical insurance so we DO NOT think that my current medical insurance provider coordinates with the auto-insurance. When I pointed this out to the representative, because I want to be covered in the event someone is hurt in my car, including me), he said that even if my insurance didn't coordinate, I'd just pay the $500 deductible and get the benefits. If the medical insurance DID coordinate "even a little bit" then I wouldn't be responsible for the deductible.
Is he misrepresenting the coverage? If they have me down for coordinated benefits and my medical insurance doesn't coordinate I would imagine that I would be responsible for any medical expenses and lost wages that resulted from an injury. But he's saying that I'd still get the PIP coverage from their company and I'd only have to pay out $500.
If he is misrepresenting the coverage, who do I make a complaint to?
