Keeping ACV for home claim and submitting proof of completion for DIY repairs
Post Body

I recently received a check for the ACV to cover laundry room repairs due to a broken water pipe. Does anyone have any experience doing the work themselves and submitting proof of completion to close out the insurance claim?

For context, I am not trying to gain any of the RCV, it's simply not worse the stress to me and I know it gets into fraud territory to profit. My family members are all licensed contractors so doing the work under a licensed contractor is not an issue.

Why am I interested in doing this? Well doing the work myself along with my contractor family lets me keep a good chunk of the ACV payment. But I would also like to have future coverage of the laundry room hence my interest in submitting proof of completion.
