These are harsh truths and solutions to common problems I see posted daily on this subreddit.

Problem 1: you think the algorithm cares about growth.

It doesn’t. The Algorithm couldn’t care less about whose account is growing and who’s isn’t. What the algorithm craves is engagement. The algorithm’s goal is to get users on the app, longer. It doesn’t give 2 shits about your account growth.

Consider what the algorithm’s goal is. It’s to increase the amount of time users are using their app. So create content that will keep people watching.

Problem 2: You want to monetize your account

I need to be honest NO BRANDS ARE WORKING WITH INSTAGRAM INFLUENCERS ANYMORE!! Brands focus on YouTubers these days. Yes-these YouTubers often also have Instagram accounts they work on. But they’re mainly YouTubers. The days of brand deals on IG are pretty much over unless you’re massive. If your account can reasonably create products that users would enjoy-go for it. Fitness influencers creating workout plans for example. It makes sense and is connected! However a meme page selling skinny tea? Doesn’t make sense and isn’t connected. Maybe your audience just doesn’t have disposable income! This leads into the next issue.

Problem 3: You do not have a target audience

Who do you want viewing your content? What age? What countries? Make sure you’re appealing to that audience. For example a US based business wouldn’t want a 70% India based audience. Learn to market to your preferred age group.

For example my target audience is single men from 30-55 in Canada or the USA. I’m also ok with the UK and Australia.

Find yours!

Problem 4: You expected immediate results and / or didn’t pay your dues

I see this constantly on this subreddit. “I’ve been posting daily and I only have 4 views!” Meanwhile I check their page and they’ve been posting for a week max.

It takes about 3-6 months to get an IG off the ground. And you have to also engage with similar accounts to yours so the algorithm learns who your audience is.

If you’re a video game page, interact with other video game pages. Like and comment on their posts. If you just go onto IG everyday, post and leave you’ll not get far. You need to use this app socially. You need to help others by engaging with their content. This helps the algorithm learn who to suggest your content to. “If they like page 1, they’ll like this new page”

I just wanted to complain a bit but I hope this helps. Yes this is a repost because most of you need to see this.
