I mainly use Instagram to follow people who have my same hobbies and to post things from my own life as a sort of visual diary. I never intended to use it to grow as a content creator, yet lately I've been very frustrated with how it's been treating me. By now I'm lucky if a few of my followers see what I post, let alone people who don't follow me at all. Hashtags sort posts by "top" and "recent top posts" which means fuck all. How is a recent post supposed to became a recent top post if no one can see it? That works only for people who already have many followers. I can't help thinking that Iif I actually wanted to start using Instagram today with the intention to grow my activity and put my content out there, I'd be screwed.
And I haven't mentioned the obnoxious promoted posts and reels that have nothing to do with what I'm interested in of course. The only thing keeping me there now is, as I mentioned, the people I follow that share my interests. But I've completely lost hope of seeing my own stuff appreciated by others, which was never my goal but I can't lie, sometimes it would be flattering to get some recognition or feedback in general on what I post.
