So I took my extended Selfie stick on my carry-on and my bag got flagged at security. Dude fishes out the stick and says that I need to put it in the checked baggage. That was a first - the option was to either abandon or check it in.
When I asked him why, he said it's an object that can cause blunt force. I looked at the lady with the walking stick behind me, all confused. I did not see it on the prohibited list for the airline and I didn't check the Mexican airport security guidelines before but a Google search didn't yield anything.
Long story short, in my case, I had to abandon it because I was already late for my flight. If I had more time probably woulda been worth it to check it in cuz that stick is $$$. It cost more that the flight tbh.
I'm livid. So this is a PSA/rant. Not sure if anyone else has experienced it here?
I’ve never seen anyone have this issue, that sucks but also these things are always subject to the individual security’s decision unfortunately.
