[Help] How do I make a perfect curve line? It is not working on my end.

I apologize if I made too many posts today. I keep running into problems. Hopefully, these posts help other beginners.

If I make dots from top to bottom and hold onto the left mouse button, I can produce a curve. But when I start manually tracing as you can see in the second screenshot, it does not make a curve. Only near the end of the second dot.

What's the best way to make a curve without this difference? I want a consistent way of producing it.

To make it more clearer, I'm trying to trace what resembles a metal brace that clamps down on the barrel and the stock.
