How to choose plastic by "feel"?
Post Body

I recently had a mold made and got my first production run. I'm happy with it, but do have a general question about choosing the plastic. I did get data sheets for a couple different types and chose the one that sounded best. My item was supposed to be similar to another one that I buy wholesale (I'm a retailer) but my production run feels different. It might be because mine is thinner than the other. But it might also be a different type of plastic, I don't know. I'm not sure if it would be kosher to ask that supplier what kind of plastic they use.

The one I used as a reference, from the supplier, feels sturdier, almost like it has a bit of hard rubber in it. Mine feels more fragile (although it's not, I beat the crap out of the T1 parts to make sure), maybe kind of like a low-quality plastic bottle. It's really hard to describe how plastic feels, let alone try to choose the plastic that way. How do you guys do it? Or do most applications need data specifications more than the way it feels?
