Partido Conservadore and Partido Liberal have decided to join a coalition in order to increase their sway in the government. This new party known as A Coalizão controls 10 seats. This, while still creating a stronger lasaiz-fair and moralistic part of government, is not expected to change much in practice because they only control 2/11 of the national assembly.

Trabalhadores Clube has opened up a new branch in Lisbon which gives public talks about the importance of equality and radical action. They have attracted a large following of hundreds of attendees and members and their numbers are expected to grow as time progresses. They have announced their candidacy in the lisbon province for the NA as well.

The Nacional Liberals seek to create a protectorate or colony in the horn of africa. Taking Kismayo and Marjeet sultanates underneath our control are their goals. This will be put to the NA to decide if and which will be done.

The Social Democrats have been holding rallies and speeches across the nation and have roused up quite a bit of support. In the Municipal elections in Faro and Oporto they won over 80% of the vote. In the next election they are expected to take 1/3 of the vote; however, these estimates are very tentative an d things may change in the four years till then.

Discussions are taking place over the aquiring of Danish Gold Coast, Danish Nicobar, and the "Cocos Islands" for the Portuguese Empire. The Cocos Islands have a population of less than 30 by estimates and it is expected they will join willingly. With the dire position of Denmark purchasing these colonies will be even easier than usual.

The NA is also in debate over forming a new upper house and an executive council to increase efficiency in law making and decisions. This is a matter of much debate but seems that the upper house will be supported while the council will be shut down.

The Lebou Theocracy has petitioned the Portuguese Government for support in a war against the Cayor Empire. The NA must debate this as well. They are expected to support this action due to the well delivered speech by the diplomat and the theocracies embracing of modernization. A plan to train Lebou troops with muskets and modern guerilla tactics has been proposed by Partido Liberal Nacional, Partido Social Democrata, and Partido Nacional. These parties begin to believe that it is the duty of modernized nations to spread the benefit and power of the modern world with all who will listen.

Discussions on a creation of a volunteer army to help spread the light of civilization have also gone through. A Portuguese Foreign Legion trained in Guerilla warfare is proposed. This Legion will be sent to colonies to bring order and light to the natives if it goes through.
