There have been some concerns in Portugal over the safety of our new Pacific Trade Routes. After debate on how to best protect these routes The Assembly decided, with and 82% agreement rate, to begin to patrol these trade routes with a small fleet of 10 Frigates and 3 Ship-of-the-Line to prevent piracy and make sure all goods are approved and taxed appropriately.

We have decided that an 8% tax on the profits of all signatory merchants who use our Pourtuguese protected and funded trade routes and a 5% tax on Portuguese Merchants and a 10% tax on all other merchants.

We ask the Mexican Government to allow us to station a small embassy at the Port of San Francisco which can make certain that the trade route is being taxed. The embassy would be payed for and ran by Portugal and 1/3 of the tax profits will go to the owner of the final destination if you allow this. An embassy would also be in Colima port should the Mexican Government agree to build it with me. We both benefit from this action and these trade networks will make you much more powerful.
