HEYOOO. My name is Sam, and I'm one of the three brothers who make up Butterscotch Shenanigans.
Last November we were working on a little game called Extreme Slothcycling. It was a mobile runner.
Then I got diagnosed with stage IV lymphoma (the cancers). I told my brothers that I'd rather not have Slothcycling be the last game I made. I showed them a prototype that was a roomba who picked up leaves and talked crazily about a game that blended Don't Starve with Pokemon with the Sims and Diablo but wasn't quite like any of them.
Blame the chemo and the specter of death, I say.
It's been nearly a year, now, and things are coming along. We wrapped up the alpha trailer yesterday, just in time to submit to the IGF, and I'm theoretically rid of disease. We've decided to launch on android, ios, pc, mac, and linux, and will begin that process next spring.
Am I pumped to be able to share this with you? You have no. freakin'. idea.
Feel free to drop some sass below, I'll do my best to keep up.
TL;DR - got cancer. made this game instead of dying.
