I have read a collection of short stories by Yamnua Datta Vaishnav "Ashok". He started writing in 1937 and once beat Harivansh Rai Bachhan (Amotbah Bachhan's father a renowned poet in Hindi) in a story competition. He is considered the first Hindi writer of Science Fiction.
It gave me immense pride to see an Indian author writing about genetic cloning and astronomical horror back in 1937. I had no idea we had writers of science fiction !
Are there presently any good science fiction books by Indian authors ?? Can the members suggest some?
