I recently read the Last Burden, the ebook version. It is my first and only book of Upmanyu Chatterjee that I've read. The writing for the book, I found was very slow. Interesting, sure, but quite slow for my taste. It was very visceral and because the characters were explored in such depth, I understood the aim of the pacing.
However, the vocabulary of that book was something I am miles away from. Every other sentence had a word I had never heard. If it weren't for the dictionary feature of the ebook apps, I would not have been able to read past 6 pages. Even with the dictionary it took me many months to complete reading.
I was planning to take up some other books authored by Upmanyu. I wonder if anyone here has read English, August or his other books. Is the vocabulary tough to understand there too? I hope The Last Burden was the only one but really there's no way to tell.
Guidance please.
