In 1992, in Madison, 12-year-old Shanda Sharer was tortured over the course of a night by four of her schoolmates: Melinda Loveless (16), Laurie Tackett (17), Hope Rippey (15) & Toni Lawrence (15). Eventually, they burned her alive. They were caught, found guilty, and all four are now out on parole.

Both cases have a really similar vibe too. Some of Sylvia's abusers were girls her own age. Indiana is a bleak fucking place.
