For me nothing beats a good butter chicken/chicken tikka butter masala meal and I tried making the same at home. My curry always tastes tomato-ish and I have no clue where I’m going wrong. I’ve tried following from many recipes from youtube but I’ve not been able to achieve that perfect taste. If I add more sugar/ honey, it becomes sweeter in taste and I don’t like that too.
Can you guys please let me know what I’m doing wrong?
Ingredients: 4 tomatoes 3 Onions 7-8 garlic pods 1 inch ginger (a little less than the amount of garlic) 2 bay leaves 1 inch cinnamon stick 5-6 peppercorn (kaali mirch) 6 cloves 1 teaspoon degi mirch 1 teaspoon honey 3/4 teaspoon dhaniya powder 1 teaspoon kasoori methi
Method: 1. In a non stick kadhai add 1/2 cup water and throw in chopped onion, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, bay leaves, cinnamon, butter, peppercorn, cloves, and degi mirch.
Let it cook until onions lose their colour and tomatoes become soft.
Then add 1 teaspoon salt and a little water and let it boil a little.
Then use a blender to mix everything and make a gravy.
In a pan, melt some butter And add green chili(1) and dhaniya powder to it. Then after sautéing it for sometime, pour in the gravy through a strainer.
Let it boil for some time and then add some dry kasoori methi and honey.
Add a little cream and mix it properly. It is now ready and cooked.
Youtube link of the recipe I am following (https://youtu.be/b7yuoRk227Y)
Please let me know what I can do to make it better and less tangy.
Thanks a lot.
