I'm wanting to start a medicine bag. I went to a leather shop to find stuff to start making it. I found maroon dyed cow hide in the scrap bin. Maroon is my favorite color. But as I was talking to the guy at the shop, he told me an authentic bag should be made of deer skin, which I get, and that it shouldn't be colored/dyed leather. But I understood that the bag should be personal, and represnt you, so wouldn't that mean that I could choose what leather and color to personalize it as well? I would love to use deer skin, and red dyed one would be great if I can use that.
