Many of us are already well aware of the impact alcohol abuse has had on our peoples and communities since colonization.
Personally, I choose to totally abstain from alcohol now. Both of my parents were alcoholics before I was born. They decided to get clean and sober when they had me and I would find it to be greatly disrespectful if I were to end up following the path they fought hard to leave. So I choose to leave it alone.
But I try not to judge those who do partake. Many of my friends, both Native and non-Native, do drink. Some socially, some more than that, some a bit less. It is their decision.
I'm curious what those among this community think, though. What are your views on alcohol?
Edit: Clarified a bit.
