Ta'c léehyn, /r/IndianCountry. (Good day)
We have some announcements for new stuff and updates we would like to let you all know of and gain some feedback on.
New
Calendar - To meet some of the requests we received from our survey, we have begun organizing a subreddit calendar! This is still a work-in-progress, but we figured we would hear your opinions on how it is looking. It covers the rest of 2016 from June through December. Remembrance days, themed weeks, and events have been and will be posted to this calendar and it will be updated every month and be placed in the sidebar. Thoughts? Want to see something added? Let us know!
Weekly Themes - One suggestion we received from our recent survey was about having themed days, such as a day a week set aside for a specific topic like "Elders Day" and so forth. While this is idea is not being fully implemented yet, the themes are currently set for a week rather than a day for traffic reasons. We would like your opinions on what is set so far. We would also like any suggestions for more themes and times for said themes.
Wiki Pages - We have added a new wiki page that lists all the ICTMN articles that are about or mention /r/IndianCountry. It can be found here. This page will also be for any other news mentions concerning the sub.
Updated
General FAQ - We have added a new section to our FAQ page about whether or not Native Americans pay taxes. If you have anything to add, certainly let us know.
Special FAQ Page - Due to the topic being complex and comprehensive, we have decided to add a special page to our FAQ specifically for the topic of genocide. This page is not 100% completed. There is some more material to add under a few of the questions, but it is done for the most part. Feel free to suggest anything that can be added to it.
Link Flair - As suggested in a previous Open Discussion Thread, we have added the option for submitters to assign their own link flair to their posts as they see fit. We would like to encourage everyone who posts content here to please begin using this function and selecting the appropriate flair to tag your posts. As there is a good chance some of you might not see this, the moderators will still assign link flair to posts and there will be no ramifications for a submitter neglecting to do so. However, a friendly reminder could be issued if a moderator chooses to do so. We will also put reminders in the rules for posting.
Notes
We hope all of you enjoy the new items and updates as well as the sub in general. Completion of said items will be in the coming week after some feedback and finalization. Again, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please let us know!
We are still collecting data from our survey, but we are considering releasing the results in due time. The reason we did not have an Open Discussion Thread (ODT? That sounds cool to abbreviate that) is because of this survey. It was essentially doing the same job of the ODT by asking you if you had any suggestions. The regular ODT will return this month.
Anyhow, that's all we've got for today. Hope everyone has a nice week! Qe'ci'yew'yew. (Thank you)
Edit: A word.
