I've been thinking about how there's powows and gatherings between all the tribes in the US, I think that's really cool! While that's super cool, I think that there's enough people who are Southern native in the US that we could all benefit from the sharing of knowledge of food, medicine, things like that.
I live on the East Coast and there's so many people here that speak Nahuatl or Mayan. They're from Southern Mexico and Guatemala, they've brought their customs, food, language, and religion here. I personally find it incredible that Nahuatl and Mayan are being spoken on Lenape land, I would like to see that grow and I'd like to see us share more. It would only benefit us because the people that arrived here aren't going anywhere they've uprooted so it would make the most sense that they learn about the land they're on. I'm asking this here because I've mostly seen Northern natives on this subreddit, I'm also new to reddit so idk if there's another sub that better accommodates these discussions.
What do you guys think? This is a discussion about the stuff above.
Edit: no I'm not in support of pan Indianism. There's a lot of intelligent natives and I think the 21st century offers opportunities that we've never had in terms of sharing our knowledge with each other and inter tribal cooperation.
