I've gotten into incense very recently as a result of a couple of on-a-whim purchases, and I'm thoroughly enjoying incorporating it into my gongfu tea ceremonies. The only two things I've tried so far are P.F. Candle Co.'s Dusk cones and Shoyiedo's Friend of Pine sticks. Including these alongside my daily tea routine has really enhanced the ritual, and I love having the fragrance hang in the air for hours afterward. It's been very pleasant, and I'm looking to further my experience and knowledge of different types of incense.
I'm very intruiged by a lot of the things I've read about; agarwood peaks my interest in particular. However, from what I've seen, more premium incense sticks like those made from agarwood, or that just include some amount of agarwood, can get very expensive very quickly. While I'm really enjoying using incense, I'm not really ready to commit huge amounts of money to the aquisition of more yet.
Overall, I'm looking for more options to compliment my tea sessions that are different from the two that I already have. I love refreshing and piney scents, and I'm also intruiged by agarwood, but a bit skeptical of some of the prices of the products I'm seeing that include it.
Based on my own reading, I've been eyeing these Shoyeido Gentle Smile sticks, but am not sure if they're worth the price, and am curious what those who have been using incense much longer than myself have to say. I would really appreciate any reccomendations you all might have!
Thank you very much in advance
