Okay so I’m 19 and definitely not seeking a girlfriend or sex. I really just want to be able to have a conversation with a girl that’s not above 50 or related to me. I’d also like it if I could go out on a date but I don’t expect too much (though I’m optimistic).

Just to explain my who I am, I do have male friends and they are successful with girls (definitely not incels), and they have told me that they think I’m genuinely really funny and interesting, I suppose they could be lying but I’m just going to assume they are telling the truth. I also regularly get my hair cut, wash (and all the other hygienic necessities) and people I associate with think I dress “nice” and “cool”. I do karate practice and bowling for hobbies, and I work for my dad and his firewood business.

Now my the problem I’m having is whenever I try to talk to a girl she’ll do 1 of 3 things, she’ll ignore me, she’ll tell me to leave her alone or she’ll insult the way I look (the last one has only happened 3 times so I probably shouldn’t couldn’t it). This happens within the first sentence, which is usually just something like “hey, what are you up to?” or sometimes just a regular “hello”. I will never do this randomly in public, I cringe at the thought of that, but I do try it at clubs (Australian here), bowling, karate practice and other social events.

I’ve tried dating apps such as tinder and bumble, and I’ve spent roughly $50 on both of them, I’ve only had about 10 matches in total, and only 3 replied to me and one actually went on a date with me, but the moment I met her in person, she spent the whole time on her and then she had to leave within the first 15mins and then when I checked my phone I had found out she has blocked me.

In all honesty every other aspect of my life is really great and I enjoy it, but the loneliness is really getting to me. I’ve seen a psych for a while now and I haven’t been diagnosed with anything so I’m pretty confident that I’m not depressed. It just affects my life a lot that I can’t even have a conversation with a girl, like difficulty finding a girlfriend I understand BUT just a conversation? Yeah i don’t know.

EDIT: just to mention, I’ve been trying for about 4 years now. Girls in school also refused to talk to me, but that makes more sense due to the social hierarchy it has.
