My group plays Gloomhaven, and we gave IA a try this weekend. One of my players found the early missions to be, "simplistic". Is he wrong?

He found that the most you do in this game is move and shoot.
I think that deeper into the game you get other stuff like disarming bombs, or having to maintain control of multiple terminals (meaning you have to split up).
