ILPT Request: How to find someone's information (i.e. contact info, address) on the internet?

I'm aware of white pages and sites like it, but I'm attempting to find someone overseas, and I'm having a harder time doing that, especially for free.
I'm also aware this might come off as creepy, but I'm asking because I'd like to contact an old friend, and I know they're in the UK, I just have no other way to talk to them, and I want to make sure they're okay.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
