That's one of the best Coen bros films i've seen and i've seen almost all of them. It's also one of their most serious films, altough i laughed a lot at some points.
The soundtrack is amazing. I have never liked folk and country music, maybe because i'm not even american in the first place, but the music in this film was spectacular.
For me it's film about manliness and suffering. Llewyn Davis is a guy with no luck in life, always giving his best but it seems like the universe is indifferent to his pain and ambition to find happiness. And despite the absurd we all live in the guy continiues doing what he loves to do - making music.
The image of the stray cat was very symbolic for me. I think the cat represented Llewyn Davis and all unfortunate people in general. Both of them were homeless, bein picked up by strangers for a little while and then left somewhere in the vast nothingness.
