Do the ends justify the means? I interpret this statement to mean that, if someone has good intentions, every way to achieve them is valid.

As a Christian, my response is that no, the ends never justify the means.

Success justifies the means, ultimately. The French revolution saw excesses comparable to the conquest of South America or most despicable period of witch persecutions , but since it wound up leading to a favorable outcome we generally gloss over that.

Be as moral or brutal as you yourself can justify for yourself. That's the most important. The second most important is not failing at what you set out to do.
