I find them very useful in the way you'd find market research useful. I read them because I wish to keep tabs on what opinions are currently considered the morally correct ones in my environment. As someone heavily on the spectrum it's very useful for fitting into the consensus on a day to day basis.
Public Consensus is updated very rapidly at times and people suppress their prior positions in response so it saves time to give things a scan routinely.
