Most of you probably know this already, but sometimes people are confused about why on earth you can’t go back in the replays and you have to wait all the match for that one moment you wanted to see, and how you can’t go back when you missed the good part.
This is how the replays work: they’re literal replays
The game plays the match again, and it records your controls, button presses and camera shifts exactly as you did it in the match. The game is controlling everyone in the replay, and this gives you the ability to view everyone’s POV, because it’s not a video format, it’s a game format.
If you remember, Arms Factory had a major change: the window at the back of the factory was replaced by a pallet. If you have a replay saved from the time before it changed, you will see guaranteed someone vaulting a standing pallet, because for the game, the player vaulted in that area, that’s what it has registered.
This is why you can’t go back or forward in a replay, because it’s acting like a real match, and you’re the spectator that can see the match from every perspective and see their items and persona trees.
I hope this cleared up some doubt people might’ve had about this issue, and why NetEase hasn’t come up with a solution yet, it’s very difficult.
How do you make the game know what to do if you rewind back? The game is just repeating the controls perfectly, but it will get confused if you try to rewind, that’s why it’s not an option.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
