Text Adventure IDV interactive game: Update 2 (The Lost Diary)
Post Body

Hey guys! Hopefully you’ve enjoyed the very small demo I put out. I’ve been working on the rest of the thing for the past 9 hours and let me tell you it’s more polished and much more eerie.

Actual characters are now introduced and the texts now make more sense. Hopefully the commands and verbs will make sense to you.

Also, just a clarification. Don’t be afraid to input even the most ridiculous command you can think of, it might actually be helpful. If you think sticking a piece of tape on the floor is going to do something, then type it in, you never know what might work and it’s encouraged to try everything that comes to your mind (as long as it’s not deadly because… well, you can die in the game).

Also, a mechanic of the game will be introduced when I put the first chapter out, which is ASK/TELL.

Just so that you don’t struggle much, the format is: “ASK [Object/Person] ABOUT [Topic]. It’s important to put the “ask” and “about”. Typing in “ask about [topic]” only won’t work because the game won’t understand who you’re trying to ask that to, so try to put the subject too. Likewise you can TELL them stuff, this will mean they now have information you shared to them, and this can be useful in the later game.

And again, it is encouraged to try to ask or tell about stuff you think might be important. If you think telling or asking someone about the tape on the floor is important, then type in “TELL/ASK [subject] about the tape on the floor”. Again, you never know what could help or not. The game won’t give you a list of topics to choose from because I want to make this a REAL detective game, where you’ll use your own intuition to find out about stuff and gather information.

Also just wanted to thank you all again for being so supportive and interested in my game. Programming stuff isn’t easy and I wasn’t sure wether anyone would like it or even actually play it, but it honestly warms my heart so much that you’re playing and enjoying it <3 I promise I’m trying to make the most quality game of this style for IDV out there, and hopefully you’ll like the story. I’ll keep coding the thing so thanks so much honestly for everything, you truly are the best community <3.
