Hello there, about a year ago I was looking at my credit report and noticed that two school loans had appeared on my report. I’m 53 and haven’t had a school loan in my life before. I was fortunate that with one of the loans belonging to some Christian school in Tennessee, they forgave me easily and it is now off my credit. The other one has been a longer frustration. Whomever took out the loan for a school in CA, knows my name, social, lots of former addresses, emails and phone numbers. I have been working with the dept of education and I have been able to change things like contact info to go to me. I’ve done police reports and have filled out dispute forms with the dept of ed, but they keep telling me it will be 90-180 days for a response. Has anybody ever had this happen to them? The total amount is like 7k so it’s not crazy, but I don’t want to pay for this. Not to mention other possible future harms.
