I’m desperate to find this song I heard two times 5 years ago. Can you identify this dark indie alt pop track with female vocals?

Post Body

Ok so this is gonna be a little weird but back in 2019, I was living in a Texas prison in Beaumont called the Stiles Unit. I’m a serious music addict. Like, I am serious with the shit. I. Love. Music. So when I went to prison, it really sucked because the only music I had access to was what was played on mainstream radio. They let you buy a $20 dollar am/fm radio from the commissary. Mainstream radio is not exactly what I’m referring to as “music” when I say I love music. I mean, don’t get me wrong. There’s plenty of good music on the radio. But the really, really, really good stuff is not going to be found on your local top 40 station. Luckily, being that I was in Beaumont, I was able to catch this local college radio station that is broadcasted from Lamar University. KVLU. That offered me a small taste of more eclectic/obscure/alternative types of music. Stuff like shoegaze, industrial, indie, electronic, punk, etc. There was one program specifically, called “Needledrop”, and hosted by Jason Miller. It came on every weekday. It was an hour long program that played pretty much anything and everything. You might hear stuff like Lou Reed, The Cure, Massive Attack, Air, Souxie & the Banshees, or David Bowie on one episode. It could literally be anything dating from as far back as the 1950s to today. Well, on March 8, 2019, the second song played in that days set is the song I’m looking for. The same set that was played for that days episode of Needledrop was played AGAIN on March 15, 2019. I mention this because the radio stations website actually offers playlists of the titles and artists of most of the tracks played on Needledrop. The only problem is that for some reason, not all songs are included on these playlists. This song, just so happens to be one that is not listed for some reason. So trust me, I’ve already attempted this route. I’ve repeatedly checked over the past 5 years to see if this songs info has been posted on the playlist for Needledrop on the two days it was played. As of today, it is still not listed. I’ve also sent numerous emails to Jason Miller and Lamar University asking them to please tell me the name of this song and who it’s by. They never respond. Luckily, I managed to write down a few of the lyrics of the song and so that is pretty much all I have to go by. I’m usually a beast when it comes to finding songs online with a couple words from the lyrics. Even very dancy techno with minimal lyrics. But for some reason, I can not for the life of me, find any info on this song. I’ve tried every song finding app and website. None have been able to identify this track. I’ve even posted the lyrics in song identifying forums and chat rooms with no luck. No one seems to know shit about this song. I’m almost wondering if I completely hallucinated the whole thing and it really doesn’t even exist. So that is why I am here. Hoping that someone on here can identify the song. I just really really really liked this song SO MUCH and can not see my entire life go by without it being an option to listen to on an as-needed basis. Ok. So now what you’ve been waiting for. The lyrics and what other tidbits of opinion based info I can give you that I can recall. These are the only few lyrics I was able to get…

"still, I feel you running up my spine and when we meet it feels like a deja vu....that special kind of voodoo that you do"

and towards the end of the song I remember the very last few lyrics were...

"strange reality...sweet melody"

But that’s it. That’s all I have to go by. The song had female vocals and was a strange mix of “slow jam/r&b/pop” meets “electronic/edm/dancy beats”. It had somewhat of a darker tone to it and I’d classify it as being alternative/indie/electro/art pop. Think, I don’t know, maybe something like Grimes, Lorde, Banks, Billie Eilish, Sneaker Pimps, Warpaint, Lady Gaga and Halsey (“I am not a woman, I’m a God”). I’d say this song probably came out some time between 2010-2019. Maybe as early as 2000. Also, this may help… are you familiar with the classic progressive house tune from 1999 called “Up In Flames” by Satoshi Tomie featuring Kelli Ali from the Sneaker Pimps? This song was made famous by John Digweed. Well in the song, Kelli Ali sings the lyrics “what kind of voodoo do you do…to make me feel this way?” Strangely, in the song that I’m looking for, when the lyrics are sung “that special kind of voodoo that you do”, they are sung almost in an identical manner as the way Kelli Ali sings the similar lyrics in “Up In Flames”. Almost as if it was done in homage to her. Maybe there’s a relation? I don’t know. I could just be imagining things. I just know I need this song. Please help. I’m desperate.
