Is it considered rude or weird for foreigners and tourists to call Icelanders by their first name?

Hi everyone!
I didn't know until many years after visiting Iceland for the first time that among Icelanders it is widely acceptable to call everyone by their first name including professors, lawyers, politicians. I was wondering however if it would be considered rude or weird if a foreigner living in Iceland (so a non-native Icelandic speaker) or a tourist visiting Iceland did that, what do you think?
